Vancouver, pre-Serendipity: first stop, Kidsbooks

Yes, I’ve arrived here in Vancouver, all ready for Serendipity 2012 on Friday/Saturday and excitement is mounting.

Today Corinne and I lost track of time in the Kidsbooks store in West Broadway and met briefly with Phyllis Simon, the store’s founding owner. You can read about Kidsbooks history here on their website, where you can also browse their fabulous online catalogue.

I discovered lots of Canadian books, including First Nations stories and a book I fell in love with in Bologna in 2010, from its inclusion in the International Youth Library‘s White Ravens Catalogue – Big Bear Hug by Nicholas Oldland.
