Poetry Friday ~ No Difference by Shel Silverstein
Friday, July 22nd, 2011I have just spent the day going through all my daughter’s notebooks, art projects, etc. that she brought home at the end of the school year. I came across her notebook entitled Poetry and in it was a poem that she had copied down along with comments on why she had chosen it as her favorite poem. It really struck a chord with me as well and, since it is Poetry Friday, I thought I would share it with you.
No Difference
Small as a peanut,
Big as a giant,
We’re all the same size
When we turn off the light.
Rich as a sultan,
Poor as a mite,
We’re all worth the same
When we turn off the light.
Red, black or orange,
Yellow or white,
We all look the same
When we turn off the light.
So maybe the way
To make everything right
Is for God to just reach out
And turn off the light!
