Shaun Tan interview…
In this interview, author and illustrator Shaun Tan talks to BookBits about his book Tales from Outer Suburbia, which has just won the Children’s Book Council of Australia Older Readers Book of the Year Award.
With thanks to Fiction is like a box of chocolates for highlighting this. I do so agree with what they say: “Some people have a talent, but few are as multi-talented and original as Shaun Tan.” After The Arrival and now Tales from Outer Suburbia, what will he take our breath away with next?

Yes, Anna, I have to agree with you there!

When I was in the UK, Shaun’s Tales from Outer Suburbia were being promoted in a London bookstore I happened to stop in at. Was immediately intrigued and am glad to hear that Tundra is bringing his new book to Canadian audiences.

Throwing this suggestion out there to all those who enjoyed Shaun Tan’s The Arrival. Get a hold of Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. I first heard of it when I read your August Reading Challenge post as it is on Susan’s fantastic Unofficial List of Great YA Books by or About Women of Color.
