Clarke’s Bookshelf: Los Angeles, USA
Bookshelf #7:
Clarke
4 years old
Los Angeles, CA, USA
My husband built and painted this bookshelf to Clarke’s specifications. It had to “look like a zebra.” Currently, Clarke especially enjoys reading Mo Willems’s Elephant & Piggie series, as well as the Dr. Seuss “Beginner Books.”

Wow. Talent must run in the family…
I find myself thinking that a copy of “How the Zebra Got Its Stripes: Stories from Around the World” would look great on Clarke’s shelf! : )
I don’t see “Lentil” (mentioned on Marjorie’s comment) anywhere, but I do see a copy of “The Hidden Alphabet” by Laura Vaccaro Seeger. The book uses the word “inkblot” for the letter “I”. Gotta love it for that–and for its beautiful and creative presentation as well!

Thanks, everyone! Our copy of LENTIL, by Robert McCloskey, is an old library copy from its 11th printing in 1967. We recently picked it up at a local library sale.
Laura Vaccaro Seeger is one of our favorite authors. I was fortunate enough to meet her at ALA in 2008, when she signed copies of all of her books for Clarke.
