Butterfly Award

About a month ago now, we were thrilled to be chosen by Just One More Book for the Butterfly Award. Thank you! And now it’s definitely high time the butterfly winged on its way through cyberspace…

So, we are passing this award on to these great blogs:

All at Create Readers
All of the Blue Rose Girls
Annie at Here and There Japan
Cynthia Leitich Smith at Cynsations
Debbie Reese at American Indians in Children’s Literature
Jen at Jen Robinson’s Book Page
Margriet at Margriet’s Blog
Mitali Perkins at Mitali’s Fire Escape
Uma Krishnaswami at Writing With a Broken Tusk
Zarah Grace C. Gagatiga at School Librarian in Action

This is a meme award and the rules for passing it on are:

1. Put the logo on your blog .
2. Add a link to the person who awarded you.
3. Award up to ten other blogs.
4. Add links to those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message for your awardees on their blogs.

By the way, does anyone know where/when this award actually originated? My theory is that the tagline was invented by someone whose mother tongue is not English. That would explain the verb-tense anomaly, since there are other languages which would use this type of structure… Any ideas, anyone?

Thank you so very much for passing the award along to me!

Yes, it does sound like World English.

  2. Marjorie Says:

    We love your blog, Annie!

And “World English” is such a good concise way of referring to it – I like it.

  3. Jen Robinson Says:

Thanks so much, Marjorie! You made my day! I don’t know where the award originated, but I have always cringed a bit over the verb tense. Your theory makes it make much more sense. Thanks for brightening my weekend!

What I’ve always said in regards to blog awards is that I feel like I’m giving my own little award every time I link to a post from another blog. And by that measure, you can clearly see that PaperTigers is one of my favorites.

  4. Marjorie Says:

Jen, I’m delighted. And thank you for your lovely comment about PaperTigers: I think that’s a lovely policy for passing on awards – and, of course, it works the other way too…

  5. Annie DC Says:

May I ask, how does one put the logo on her blog?

  6. Anna Alter Says:

    Oh how lovely, thank you!

  7. Elaine Magliaro Says:

Thanks so much for the honor–from the Wild Blue Rose.

  8. Marjorie Says:

Annie, you can use the one here – just save it to your own computer and then post it from there.

    Anna and Elaine, thank you.

  9. Diana Deco Says:

Thanks so much for giving us a butterfly award. We’ve now mentioned your blog on Create Readers too. I have enjoyed looking at it and will be back…

  10. Marjorie Says:

Thanks for the shout out , Diana, and glad you’ve enjoyed taking a look around PaperTigers.
