I love it - Benjamin the Lagomorph!

And thank you for that link. I can certainly recommend When Hitler Stole White Rabbit - but I don't know the others. Older Brother loved The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo, though. I will definitely look out Rabbit-Proof Fence...

Ahhh...yes....lagomorphs!! Love 'em! I had one as a pet many years ago and we referred to him as "Benjamin the Lagomorph". I love the book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo and my daughter Emma loves any book by Rosemary Wells that features the bunnies Max and Ruby.

Here is a link for 10 "Bunny Books" http://www.eparenting.co.uk/easter/bunnybooks.shtml

Two books on the list which interest me and I have added to my "must read" list are:

When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit By Judith Kerr. "The story of a Jewish girl forced to flee Germany when Hitler came to power. She has to leave her home, her friends and her beloved toys. Based on the author's own experiences."

Rabbit-proof Fence by Doris Pilkington

"This true story, more suitable for older children, tells how three aboriginal sisters were taken by Australian authorities to a settlement to be re-educated from their heritage and become culturally white. The book tells of how they escaped and returned to their family."
