Jae Soo Liu, music by Dong Il Sheen,
Yellow Umbrella.
Kane Miller, 2002.

My two children and I love Liu and Sheen's Yellow Umbrella. As a picture book (no text), the illustrations alone convey a whimsical story. With the collaboration of musical accompaniment, the pages, literally, seem to dance.

While playing the included CD, the story starts with an aerial view of one yellow umbrella walking down a grey street. With each page, the yellow umbrella continues its journey through the neighborhood and city blocks to be joined by other multi-colored umbrellas. At the end the multi-colors fill the page as they reach their destination: school. This book sparks creativity and can be viewed / played numerous times while maintaining its originality.
