The winner of the 2002 [Angus Book Award, www.angus.gov.uk/bookaward] is Bali Rai for his debut novel, (Un)arranged Marriage , which focuses on the plight of a young Sikh boy who is forced into an arranged marriage by his domineering and violent father. He tries to rebel, but his determined family takes drastic action. Set in Leicester and India, this is a compelling account of a young man's struggle to escape his controlling Punjabi family and have the freedom to choose how to live his life.
