Ruth Ohi,
And You Can Come Too
Annick Press, 2005.

Rating: G*

After her father gently reminds Sara that pushing is not nice, Sara gets angry and claims that she is running away. After packing too many bags, she tells her sister Annie that, "she can come too" (to help carry the bags). Dad helps the  girls set up a new home in the backyard where all hard feelings are forgotten and the three have a wonderful day together.

I think children could relate to the frustration of being disciplined by a parent and empathize with Sara when she decides to run away. This may draw the child reader in initially, however I feel the rest of the story would be better appreciated by a parent. While setting up the tent, there are some fun, funny and touching moments between the father and his two daughters. The patience and love of a father is so well portrayed. I think this is a sweet story but one that I would recommend for a home library rather than a school library.
