The Maureen Hayes Author / Illustrator Visit Award is an American Library Association Award established in 2005 with funding from Simon and Schuster Children’s Publishing. The Award will be given to a library to pay for a visit from an author or illustrator to talk to children and young people who would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience such a meeting.

- The award is administered by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC).
- Only ALSC Members can apply.
- The award will be made for three years, starting in 2006.
- The maximum award is $4,000 and covers the honorarium and travel to and from the host city of the author / illustrator – it does not cover any other costs associated with the visit, which must be met by the hosting library.
- Maureen Hayes was Director of Library Services for Atheneum, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, in the 1980s.
