Read Up On It is a thematic print publication, also available online, which promotes Canadian children’s books and reading.

This annual magazine from the Children’s Literature Service really has its finger on the pulse of where to look for high-quality writing for young people on a broad spectrum of important themes.

• Read Up On It is published by the Children’s Literature Service of the Library and Archives Canada.
• Its goal is ‘to make Canadian authors and illustrators better known and to encourage the reading of Canadian children's literature’.
• Each annual issue, going back to 1993, takes a theme as its springboard and highlights notable books published in Canada on that theme. Past themes include Aboriginal Stories, A Wish for Peace and Multiculturalism.
• Each issue features the work of a different illustrator, which also form the basis for the posters and bookmarks etc which accompany the publication.
• The magazine features lists of both Canadian book awards and Canadian winners and nominations for international awards.
• The magazine is aimed at librarians, teachers and parents.
