- Read Up On It is published by the Children’s Literature Service of the Library and Archives Canada.
- Its goal is ‘to make Canadian authors and illustrators better known and to encourage the reading of Canadian children's literature’.
- Each annual issue, going back to 1993, takes a theme as its springboard and highlights notable books published in Canada on that theme. Past themes include Aboriginal Stories, A Wish for Peace and Multiculturalism.
- Each issue features the work of a different illustrator, which also form the basis for the posters and bookmarks etc which accompany the publication.
- The magazine features lists of both Canadian book awards and Canadian winners and nominations for international awards.
- The magazine is aimed at librarians, teachers and parents.
- Past issues can be viewed online.
