What
is it? |
It's where you can find all of Australia's best illustrators,
whose work is selected by a committee of experts from the book
industry.

PaperTigers
says... |
A site that is a wonder to look at, quick to load,
easy to navigate, and with marvelous surprises in every page.
Add the fact that it has the potential to become a great resource
for new illustrators and for the Australian book industry, and
we can say without doubt that this is the best thing that has
happened to the Australian children's book cyber-world in 2003...
An example for other society of authors!

|
- The site is an initiative of the Society
of Book Illustrators and Books
Illustrated, supported by the Australia
Council for the Arts. In other words, it's serious stuff!
- Every illustrator featured has a dedicated
page, with a selection of images, contact information and a
short description of his/her style, favorite subjects and age
group s/he mostly works for;
- It was launched in August 2003 with 80 illustrators. New artists
are selected and added every six months - look here
for how the selection process works (remember:
you have to be Australian);
- You can search the site by age group, subject,
style, and even keywords, or you can browse the artists' pages,
but if you just want to be charmed go right to the random
slideshow, or download the screensaver (updated
ever two months!)
