The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) is a nonprofit organization which specializes in Earth and Space science education, communication and outreach, and in fostering national and international cooperation in global Earth observations. Their efforts are designed to improve understanding of and response to natural and human-induced changes in the Earth system. One of their outreach projects is an annual art contest for children in grades 2-4. Yearly themes such as "Interlocking relationship between Plants, Water, Animals, and Humans (2005) " and "Polar Explorations: Going to Extremes (2006)" encourage students to learn about and draw the planet Earth. This gallery is a sample of some of the contests' winning entries from the previous 10 years (1996-2006). For more information, visit their website.
