Q&A
Do you have a favorite painting technique?
I mostly use Chinese ink, Chinese powder and acrylics on Korean sliding-screen paper. I favor this paper for its softer visual presentation.
How would you describe your style?
Through my art I explore my feelings about people and the world around me. I try to mix reality and dreams for a result that, I hope, is unique.
What are you working on now?
I have in mind a sequel, so to speak, to Minji's Salon, and am currently working on illustrating some traditional Korean tales about tigers. I am very interested in folktales and the way they convey the complexities of the adult world in a way that's accessible to children. I want to share my own visual interpretations of these tales with children.
I am also interested in the art of partition screen painting, to make use of all my Oriental Painting training. This is something I might pursue in the future.
